Swedish massage is relaxing
and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and
circulation, while promoting health and well being.
Swedish massage was developed by
the Swedish doctor Per Henrik Ling. It is is a system of long
strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and
shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones,
rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to
the heart.
The main purpose
of Swedish massage is to increase the in the blood flow and
release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage helps flushing
the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic
wastes. It increases circulation and lymph flow. It stretches
the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and flexible.
Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and and soothes the
nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces both emotional
and physical stress.
